March 2019 Newsletter

Dear Woodstation Family,

It is hard to believe it is already March, and we are down to only three months left in this school year! Our students and teachers are working very hard to get ready for the upcoming Georgia Milestones test. All students enrolled in third through eighth grade in Georgia schools are required to take the Georgia Milestones test.

This test is designed to measure the knowledge and skills taught in Georgia classrooms. It will assess these skills in the areas of reading, English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students will be assessed on how well they have learned the academic standards that have been established by the state for their grade.

At Woodstation, this test will be administered:

  • ELA Writing – April 22nd
  • ELA Reading – April 23rd
  • Math – April 24th
  • Social Studies – April 25th  (5th grade only)
  • Science – April 26th  (5th grade only)

Results from this test will be provided to you, the school, and the school system as a tool to help enrich the educational program that we offer your child. I’m so pleased with the hard work of our Generals (students and teachers) this year. Everyone has worked so well together so that our students can learn as much as possible.

I know our teachers have prepared your students to be successful. I am looking forward to seeing our students rise to the challenge and do their very best!

This will be Woodstation’s sixth year for our Track team and it will start in March with information available on our school website. Track is for any boy or girl in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade with good grades, behavior, and attendance. Sign-up information is in the front office and practice starts March 7th, and 18th for our students to have fun learning about track and field.  Call the school if you have questions.

School Lunch Charges:  We are thankful and blessed for the nutritious breakfast and lunches our Cafeteria provides for our students daily.  Please make sure if your student is purchasing breakfast or lunch in the Cafeteria, please make sure there is money in their account to cover the cost of the meals.  We currently still have student charges that are unpaid.  We currently have over $1,000.00 in student lunch charges. If you currently owe money, please send payment immediately or contact the school and set up a payment plan.

Go Generals!                                                  Ernie Ellis
